LONDON: Apple's visionary co-founder [url="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Steve-Jobs"]Steve Jobs[/url] got the idea of creating the iconic [url="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/iPad"]iPad[/url] after he felt irritated over a dinner with a [url="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Microsoft"]Microsoft[/url] employee who boasted that they had a revolutionary tablet in production.

The true inspiration behind the iPad, which has sold a combined total of 39.8 million units, has been revealed in the recently published Walter Isaacson's authorised biography 'Steve Jobs,' the Daily Mail reports.

"This dinner was like the tenth time he talked to me about it, and I was so sick of it that I came home and said, F**k this, let's show him what a tablet can really be," Jobs said, according to his biographer Isaacson.

His anger drove him to create the seven-inch touchscreen iPad that was launched in April 2010.

Isaacson, who interviewed Jobs 40 times during his final battle with cancer, has highlighted some of the facts about Jobs' personal and professional life in his latest book.

In his book he has also revealed how Jobs had a 'problematic psychological attitude' to food.

Jobs would stick to strange diets where he would only eat cereal, carrots or 'starchless vegetables'. Sometimes he would only eat Apples, a quirk that is said to have inspired his company's name, Isaacson has revealed.
