The first Friday free practice which was scheduled to begin on Friday morning was interrupted for 5 minutes as a black stray dog ran onto the track, sending the organizers into a frenzy. Pursuit vehicles scampered after the dog which ran aimlessly all over the track. The organizers finally succeeded in driving the dog out. Delhi is under tremendous pressure to pull off a successful international event in the wake of a disastrous Commonwealth Games scandal. Lewis Hamilton of Mc Laren Mercedes topped the first free practice and he was closely followed by World Champion Sebastian Vettel.
