jrpsycopk Posted April 1, 2009 Report Share Posted April 1, 2009 New Delhi, April 1 (TNN): The Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) is encountering once again litigation over the Central Election Commission (CEC) allocating ‘rail engine’ symbol to the party. A political outfit, Krantikar Rashtriya Samajwadi Party on Wednesday filed a petition in the Supreme Court, seeking its direction to the CEC to cancel the allotment of the symbol to the PRP. The political outfit, in its petition, said it had contested in as many as 70 Assembly constituencies in the last general elections with the ‘rail engine’ symbol. As such, the outfit prayed the court to direct the CEC to allot the symbol to its candidates only. The PRP, which had failed to get a common symbol for its candidates, approached the apex court and was able to secure the symbol ‘rail engine.’ But suddenly a political outfit came out and went to the court, seeking the allotment of the symbol to its candidates.
