[b]Australia- Laser Pointers[/b]
It is illegal to carry a laser pointer with you while you are in Australia. The government had completely banned the laser pointers classifying them as “prohibited weapons.” The ban has been made after a series of attacks with laser beam over low flying helicopters and flights, where the attackers tried to blind the pilot with the beam.

[b]U.S. - Windows Vista[/b]
The Federal Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration of the U.S. government have banned Windows Vista in 2007. The operating system was also not allowed to get installed on any of the internal network of the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The ban was imposed saying the security and compatibility issues. Microsoft office and Internet Explorer 7 was also added to the list and it was a major blow to Microsoft.

[b]North Korea- Cell phones[/b]

It may seem impossible to live without a mobile phone. But North Korea banned the sale and use of cellular devices in 2004. It has resulted in the rise of a mobile black market, with relay stations set up on the Chinese border. Even though the ban was partially lifted in 2008, the people were not allowed to call out of the country or none were allowed to enter the country. The cell-phone population of the country is still low.

[b]Greece- Google’s Street View[/b]

Greece has banned Google’s Street View in 2009 highlighting a growing fear among the people of threat posed by "creeping" new technologies. The data protection agency in Athens has also barred Google’s vehicles from taking pictures and mapping the streets for the service.

[b]China- Skype[/b]

Skype got banned in China in 2010, the same day the company announced the addition of video calling to its iPhone apps. The ban said that only China Telecom and China Unicom are allowed to operate VoIP services in the country. China had a tradition of banning many websites and has the infamous “Great Firewall,” which gives the Chinese government supreme power to control websites.

[b]Israel- iPad[/b]

The public went angry when Israel banned Apple’s iPads and confiscated the ones which are already imported in 2010. The Government highlighted iPads incompatibilit y with the European Wi-Fi standard, which is used in Israel and said its wireless signals could disrupt other devices as a reason for the ban.

[b]India- Nokia’s Push Email[/b]

The Government of India banned the push email service offered by Nokia. The Intelligence Bureau ordered the Indian service providers not to give the service since the government can’t monitor the contents. The move is made highlighting the security concerns.

[b]Saudi Arabia- Blackberry[/b]

Saudi Arabia had banned use of all the blackberry devices in 2010 and ordered the service providers to stop the service to all RIM handsets saying "in its present state, Blackberry does not meet regulatory requirements.” The ban was meant to get greater control over the data sent by the phones.

[b]Facebook- Pakistan[/b]

The social giant Facebook got banned in Pakistan following the controversies regarding a Facebook page called "Everybody Draw Mohammed Day!" Facebook got accused for spreading religious hatred on internet which provoked many in the Muslim majority country.
