Mangali Krishna And Others Get Bail

Anantapur, April 27: Mangali Krishna and two others, who were convicted in the suitcase bomb case, an attempt to kill TDP leader Paritala Ravindra, were given bail by the district fast track court here on Friday.

The court, two days ago, found all of them guilty in suitcase bomb case, an attempt at killing TDP leader Paritala Ravindra. The accused were shifted to the Kadapa jail from Anantapur. They immediately filed bail petitions which were heard on Friday. The fast track court granted bail to three of the four accused in the case.

Mangali Krishna, alleged to be a follower of the YSR Congress chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was named Accused No. 5 in the case. Mangali Krishna and others have challenged the fast track court’s judgment in the district court.

The case was registered in 2001 when N Chandrababu Naidu was chief minister. Mangali Krishna and others were charged with planting a suitcase bomb to kill Paritala Ravindra, who was a minister then. They were alleged to have planted the bomb when Naidu came for a tour of Penugonda in Anantapur district. They allegedly planted suitcase bomb in an Ice Cream vending cart and planned to trigger the bomb. The attempt however failed.

This issue rocked the Assembly during those days. The court delivered its judgment on Wednesday.
