let me answer as layman them we will google it

Spring frame work lo controller class vuntundi kada...

this class will receive request and apply business logic then construct response

now say for example we have to call/invoke a service say (either 3 party or internal but out side spring application)
so we make a service call get the data and use our own logic then bulid the response

means
req---> Spring controller class---> internal DB ---> get some details.---> make a call to out side service--> get data--> manipulate date --> bulid response
