oka chinna katha.

king Bhojadeva, took up a huge project of reviving Shivalayas in his kingdom. Thus he engaged a number of painters, sculptors from all over India to come up with their best work.

while he was inspecting it, he came across a particular sculpture from Gujarat based sculptor. The king was shocked when he saw the work.

the artist had depicted one of the shivganas as a beggar, with his skeleton showing, eyes bulging out, staring in the direction of Shiva.

The king became irritated and asked the sculptor to explain his work. The artist wasn't able to explain his work. He stuttered and stammered, and said something so incoherent, the intelligent and learned king blew his lid off and ordered his men to cut the artist's tongue off.

At this time, a poet in his court intervened and explained. that Mahadeva himself is someone who lives naked and depends on his begging bowl. Unable to comprehend these and other great mysteries of life, the shivgana has become crazy and malnourished.

The king became so happy, and rewarded the sculptor very well.

The point here is, an artist (ps02) is oblivious to his own work. and many times articulation escapes him. This is where poets come and try to explain their work to lay people.
