Going by the same logic of the OP, what locus standi does Aamir Khan have to talk about intolerance when his whole life he has lived in a cucoon weaved by his wealthy parents. Aamir Khan belongs to the 1% elite in India who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. His father is the renowned producer and director Tahir Hussain, his more famous uncle is Nasir Husain and he belongs to the family of the great Abul Kalam Azad.

 

India is intolerant to poor people, period. Whether you are a Hindu, Muslim, X, Y or Z - if you are poor in India you are royally screwed. 

 

Aamir Khan "being a Muslim" could act in a movie which mocks Hindu gods and not get censured for it - in a predominantly Hindu country. Everyone knows what would happen if the roles were reversed and the religion insulted was Islam - case in point the murder of Theo Van Gogh the maker of  Submission- who got murdered for a commentary on violence on women in Islam.

 

Everyone has the right to have an opinion - but it comes across as nothing but naked shallowness when one of the most celebrated Muslim actors in India adored by millions of Indians of all religious stripes - chooses to speak in a disingenuous fashion - as if intolerance in India reared its ugly head in the last one year. Either he is being wilfully ignorant of India's dark past or at worst he is being deliberately cantankerous to score a cheap point over an issue affecting all indigent Indians who are disenfranchised by intolerance.
