ronitreddy Posted January 4, 2016 Author Report Posted January 4, 2016 This year US has issued 90k visas to about 94k applicants (refused only 4000 as per US mumbai consulate statistics). It seems with recent indian bashing by Trump and other republican Presidential candidates as well as House and Senate judiciary chairmen repeatedly calling out USCIS and State dept officials for being lax in giving visas and admitting people into US, they have set a target to send back home a few students at the port of entry, so that student visa rate will get back to their normal rates over last few years (F-1 visa issual rate has been about 75 percent except this year when it is almost 95 percent). there are good chances they could be heavy refusals in 2016 because of upcoming elections and strong anti immigrant sentiment in US electorate. Better to wait until the things settle down .that is my two cents. Not to frighten you but just to caution you. best of luck.
