Devops on small scale is good . Large scale it's bound to fail.. It creates so much stress on resource . If he dies or leaves company that's it .. It I'll be difficult to support .. Or you need to have team who do all stuff...but their is limit for everything ... A regular dba may lack some app knowledge. But will be good at what he does...ex.. Backup/restore..refresh, main thing consistency ... Performance of db etc.. Devops guys..will be busy developing deploying or do Linux, storage or network work..

 

somehow i I feel specialists are specialists  and all rounders are all rounders. You cannot win matches with all all rounders ..

Ippude prathidi App centric ayipoyayi for companies....whc means company is looking for candidates whc can take care of it....whc means underlying OS...middleware components....connecting databases.....knowledge to tweak the code or atleast understanding code  ....chustunaaru....I hav seen companies let go people with 15-20 years of expertise and retaining people whc  hav good knowledge of functionality of their most important Apps
