Centre declares Amaravathi-Anantapur express way as national highway - Country’s longest expressway without turns or curves

The Centre has declared the Amaravati- Ananthapur express way as National Express way.

This is the 3rd such expressway announced by the Central government so far. In addition to this, it is also the longest national expressway in the Country.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who held a review meeting with the officials here today, discussed on the alignment finalization of AmaravatiAnanthapur Express Way, finalization of Benz circle flyover design, progress of Visakhapatanam to Bheemeli Beach Road and Bhogapuram to Bheemeli State highway.

He said that the total length of Amaravati- Ananthapur express way is 393.594 Km and will be developed as 4 and 6 lane roads. The length of 4 lane expressway would be 185.400 Km and the length of 6 lane expressway would be 208.194 Km.

The advantage of Ananthapuramu to Amaravati express way is that the distance gets reduced by 100 km and the travel time gets reduced by 5 hrs. The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 18,103 cores. The officials of the department listed out 3 alternative feeder roads from Kurnool district to the national express way
