Chase was not even giving peanuts (0.01% interest) so I have opened an account with Discover (savings account) to just try out. But I had issues opening the account online as it will ask where you if you are an American Citizen or a permanent Resident. So please call them and open the account. So far so good.

This can be of some help, "You get $100 Bonus when you Apply for your first Discover Online Savings Account (OSA) by 5/31/17. Enter Offer Code NW217 when applying. Deposit at least $15,000 by 6/15/17."

I dont know what is GS BTW.

even when applying for BOFA credit card, its asking resident alien status. for all immigrants, its saying to contact local branch or call the phone number.

seems they stopped online processing of bank account and credit card applications
