PVNR retired from politics in 1991 and he did not contensted general elections hel in 1989. But it was after assasination of Rajiv Gandhi, in 1991 Congress is in dire need of a senior person to lead as PM.

So PNVR contested in by election in Nandyal in 1991. NTR did not field any TDP candidate against PVNR in that byelection. Since NTR  wished that a telugu man should become PM, he gracefully did not field any candiate against PVNR. That is the credibility of NTR who encouraged and helped PVNR.

 ikkad unna bunch of fools still argue and hate NTR.

Evvadu NTR ni hate cheyatledu kaani, national level lo influence chesthey ne BR ivvali. Of course, BR itself has become a joke Rajiv Gandhi ki kooda ichinappati nundi so adi pedda antha credible award em kaadu. Danikosam antha pakuladatam kooda waste, but at the end of the day adi national level lo influence chesinollaki ivvali not regional party presidents.
