Typically these gossips start from fringes in YouTube channels, D grade websites and from there to partisan YSR CP blogs such as Kommineni and slowly to Sakshi. Some portals baselessly even connected CBN to this. As yours truly has been closely observing Telugu conferences in USA for a decade, we thought we would offer some facts to this discussion. False Claim 1 : Modugumudi is closely associated to TANA As far as we know Modugumudi doesn’t have any contact directly with TANA. This doesn’t mean people from TANA might not have contacted him for his services. TANA President Satish Vemana categorically denied on the record that TANA is not connected to Modugumudi. However, as we wrote exclusively earlier , this whole issue started with 2016 ATA conference in Chicago. When Anasuya and Sampoornesh Babu protested against Modugumudi , ATA president was ON RECORD saying ATA has officially engaged Modugumudi aka Sree Raj Chennupati to coordinate with Tollywood. So from information publicly available, Modugumudi is connected to ATA , if any, than TANA. False claim 2 : Modugumudi aka Chennupati is connected to Naidu because of caste. It is pathetic that even crime is loked at from a caste angle. Criminal of any caste is a criminal. Modugumudi uses his alias Chennupati to bring references to a particular caste prevalent in TFI, but doesn’t hail from it. Again it is unfortunate to look at crime with a caste glass, but gossip websites have gone overdrive connecting CBN to Modugumudi due to caste. So even that is trash. False claim 3 — Heroines will be arrested soon There is no public statement from Chicago Police to this effect. From what we know, only Modugumudi couple are alleged to have perpetuated crime. All the heroines are listed as victims and also there is enough reference that they have been cooperating with law enforcement. And another factor to weigh in is all these are Indian citizens. So at this point it is very early to say whether law enforcement will bring any charges. Unlikely based on how police have handled the case so far. We will try to bring more clarity as things evolve, but as of now except the chargesheet and tapes(which we exclusively broke) there is not much happening.
