Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said his party had given him the power to decide on early polls

Hyderabad:

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao announced the dissolution of the Telangana assembly to clear the decks for early polls.

On Sunday, amid speculation about an announcement during the 'mother of all rallies' in Ranga Reddy district, the chief minister had said that his party has empowered him to take a decision on early elections - his latest hint on the issue. "I will take a decision soon (on assembly dissolution) and then announce what I will do if TRS is elected again," he said before launching into the government's achievements and welfare measures in what was virtually a poll pitch.

The term of the Telugu Rashtra Samiti (TRS) government wass till May 2019, and elections, as per schedule, would have happened along with Lok Sabha elections. Chief Minister KCR last weekend had gone to Delhi and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and others, triggering speculation that he had discussed early elections in the state.

Here are the live updates on the Telangana assembly being dissolved:

New Delhi: Ending weeks of speculation and hints, Telangana chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday obtained the nod from his cabinet colleagues for the dissolution of the state assembly. He immediately took off to Raj Bhavan to meet governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, conveying the cabinet’s decision and recommended early polls. The governor is set to forward the cabinet’s resolution to the Election Commission for approval.

Telangana’s assembly election were set to take place concurrently with the 2019 Lok Sabha, but could now be brought forward to November-December, when Rajasthan. Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram go to the ballot.

The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting held on Thursday at the chief minister’s camp office. The chief minister would soon address the press to inform the public about the decision.

Rao’s Telangana Rashtra Samithi had an overwhelming majority in the assembly and on September 2 held a massive rally near the outskirts of Hyderabad which was dubbed as a ‘progress report’ of the government’s performance over the past four years. A cabinet meeting was held hours before the meeting, during which Rao said his colleagues had authorised him to take the final call on early polls.

Setting the play for dissolution of the assembly, chief secretary S.K. Joshi on Monday had requested all the departments to submit proposals that needed cabinet approval. After the proposals had been cleared on Wednesday, the cabinet meeting on Thursday cleared the stage for dissolution.

Rao has been floating the idea of a ‘federal front’ to tackle the BJP-Congress duopoly at the Centre, meeting several regional party leaders who – like him – have stayed away from both the NDA and UPA. The TRS believes that holding state and Lok Sabha elections simultaneously would not be favourable to it, as it would not highlight its ‘development and welfare schemes’. Bringing the elections forward would allow Rao and his party to navigate both the elections appropriately.

Observers and analysts in the state also suggest bring the elections forward would also allow the TRS to cash in on recently launched welfare schemes. The Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima schemes were launched in quick succession to provide relief to landed farmers. While the Rythu Bandhu scheme provided investment support to landed farmers, the Rythu Bima secures Rs 5 lakh insurance to them

I think KCR PLANS.

Plan 1)if kcr wins  majority seats   in assembly .KTR CM and expose Congress tdp nexus. .REBAL MEMBERS TO GET MP SEATS Pre poll alliance  with bjp.

PLAN 2)" hung assembly"..If hung assembly  , election conduct again in  2019.
