Venkat Reddy was 6 time MLA and two time minister, Harish Rao pressurized Venkat Reddy to join TRS in 2014 which he declined and terms got bad with them immediately. Lost on few contracts and this escalated as TRS-Congress war internally and after his death, TRS went ahead and made sure none from the family comes even closer to winning an election. Venkat Reddy is elder brother of Damodar reddy, contestant from Suryapet on Congress ticket.

All that a side my point is that INC didn’t lose by just 5-10k votes to discount that as one time luck on TRs part or some ruling party advantage but INC lost like approx 50k votes even with venkat reddy’s wife in play. That is enough to show how much TRS gained with changing dynamics in khammam be tummala joining TRS or other YCP leaders. Here are the results that show INC+ TDP + BJP + YCP + CPM (all supported and campaigned for venkat reddy’s wife) and still couldn’t come close in bi elections and see where TRS was in 2014 Telangana Assembly Byelections, 2016: Paleru (Assembly constituency) Party Candidate Votes % ± TRS Thummala Nageswar Rao 94,940 55.5% INC RamReddy Sucharitha Reddy 49,258 28.8% CPI(M) Pothineni Sudarshan Rao 15,538 9.1% Majority 45,676 Turnout 1,71,061 89.73 TRS gain from INC Swing Telangana Legislative Assembly election, 2014 Telangana Assembly Elections, 2014: Paleru (Assembly constituency) Party Candidate Votes % ± INC Ramreddy Venkat Reddy 69,707 39.28% TDP Baby Swarna Kumari Maddineni 47,844 26.96% CPI(M) Pothineni Sudarshan Rao 44,245 24.93% TRS Ravella Ravindra 4,041 2.28% Majority 21,863 Turnout 1,77,461 91.46% INC hold Swing

I have seen this fight closely. Ram Reddy Venkat Reddy's are our neighbors for the last 15 years. Promised 100 houses for each village, and so on...that's why there was ultimate turnaround. or else, You can imagine how a party which barely polled 5000 votes could win with such a margin.
