North Carolina abortion bill blocked after lawmakers fall short of votes to override governor's veto

A North Carolina "born alive" bill that would have imposed additional penalties on medical professionals for failing to care for infants who are born after a botched abortion was vetoed by Governor Roy Cooper. The vote fell short of the three-fifths supermajority required to overturn the governor's veto.
