Hyderabad: The Centre has chosen Telangana state as one of the five in the country to host the Giga-scale Lithium ion battery manufacturing plant. According to TS chief secretary S.K. Joshi, the state government reiterated its commitment and its readiness to establish a plant in the state in a recent video conference held by Niti Aayog chief executive officer Amitabh Kant.

Mr Joshi stressed that Telangana state is ideally suited for hosting the 5GWh capacity battery manufacturing plant as envisioned by the Centre.

He explained that the state had a land bank of 200 acres near the airport and the Outer Ring Road, with ready-to-supply power and water at a discount and access to skilled work force.

Mr Joshi said the Centre had recently set up the National Mission on Transformative Mobility and Smart Storage comprising an inter-ministerial steering committee of secretaries headed by the Niti Aayog.

He said Mr Kant congratulated the state government and the chief secretary for expression of interest to host the Giga-scale Li-ion battery manufacturing plant.
Telangana state qualifies for all the criteria for selection including single-window mechanism under TS-iPASS (Telangana Industrial Policy), encumbrance-free land, trunk infrastructure, access to utilities at rational rates, including subsidies and incentives to ancillary units, Mr Joshi said.

Hyderabad is probably the only city which has grade-1 real estate in excess of over one lakh acres and because of this, there is no need to do land acquisition which has become a boon these days.

Okka ORR valla one lakh acres came into accessibility...With regional ring road, cheap grade-2 will come into availability, another two lakh acres.
