You should be careful when buying farm land, you need to check all papers like Pahani verification for that last 55 years is very important, ROR 1B needs to be checked, EC needs to be verified, New/latest passbooks of seller is a must. Contact an advocate and ask them to provide a legal opinion on the land on a stamped paper from his office. Also don't give full amount to the advocate until your work is complete. 

I agree putting all eggs in one basket is not good. Try selling only half of plots and then buying 5 acres instead of 10 acres of farm land.
