Four more test positive for COVID-19 in Odisha, cases rise to 48

Four more people, including a woman and two girls, have tested positive for COVID-19 in Odisha, taking the total number of corona virus patients to 48 in the state, health department officials said on Friday.

The woman and the two girls from the Jharpada area of the state capital are relatives of a man, who died of corona virus.

The 72-year-old man, the first COVID-19 victim in the state, died on Monday. However, his COVID-19 report confirming that he tested positive for the virus arrived on Tuesday.

Delhi govt says require 2 lakh PPEs 'immediately'

Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain said, "Centre has promised us to provide personal protective equipment (PPEs). We have been told that 13,500 PPEs will be given tonight and 13,500 will be provided by tomorrow. Immediately we need at least 2 lakh PPEs."

COVID-toll at 239, confirmed cases at 7,447: Health Ministry 

The highly infectious COVID-19 has killed 239 people in the country, with 40 new deaths reported in the last 24 hours. The total number of positive cases is now at 7,447 after 1,035 new cases were registered. 

The figure includes 6,565 active cases, 643 cured/discharged/migrated and 239 deaths, said Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

71-year-old from Mahe dies in Kerala hospital

A 71-year old man, undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at a government hospital, died on Saturday.

The deceased, who had tested positive for the corona virus, hailed from neighbouring Mahe, an enclave of Puducherry, Kannur District Medical Officer Dr K Narayana Naik told PTI.

The man, had earlier undergone treatment at two private hospitals at Thalassery for fever and later was admitted to the Pariyaram Medical College Hospital here, where he died this morning, Dr Naik said.

All protocols with regard to COVID-19 related death would be followed for his funeral, he added.

Three people succumb to COVID-19 in Chandi Mahal over past 3 days 

At least three people have died of the novel coornavirus in Delhi's Chandni Mahal area in the past three days, ANI reported. Chandi Mahal is one one of the 30 areas that have been declared containment zones. 

"Of the 102 people staying in 13 different religious locations in the area, 52 tested positive," said Office of Central district DM.

COVID-19 claims three more lives in Indore, toll reaches 30 

With three more individuals, including a 75-year-old man, succumbing to COVID-19 in Indore, the toll in the city has reached 30, officials said on Saturday.

The three men died during treatment at different hospitals in the city over the last three days. However, their test reports, which confirmed that they were coronavirus positive, were received this morning, an official of Government Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College said.

Bihar govt steps up vigil in three hotspot districts

The Bihar government ordered on Saturday to step up its vigil in three of its hotspot areas of Siwan, Begusarai and Nawada districts to curb the fast-spreading coronavirus in the state, according to All India Radio News.

Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey on Friday informed that Siwan, Begusarai and Nawada districts have been completely sealed after new cases were reported from these areas. 

"Siwan, Begusarai and Nawada have been completely sealed now after new cases reported from these areas. A curfew-like situation is prevailing in these districts. People are not allowed to move from one house to another," said DGP Bihar.

Odisha reports two new COVID-19 cases taking tally to 50

Odisha has reported two fresh COVID-19 positive cases taking the total number to 50, while 10 coronavirus patients have recovered in the state, an official of the Health and Family Welfare department said on Saturday.

"Two more persons tested positive and 10 recovered on Friday," the official said, adding that that the state presently has 37 active COVID-19 cases.

COVID-19 count in Jharkhand rises to 17 after three fresh cases emerge

Jharkhand saw an increase in its COVID-19 tally after three new cases were registered on Saturday. One from Ranchi's Hindpri, the other two from Koderma and Hazaribagh, ANI reported.

Ashok Gehlot chairs high-level meet on COVID-19 

Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot chaired a high level meeting on the novel corona virus in his residence on Saturday and said the decision to extend the lock down will be taken keeping in mind to protect lives of people.

Meanwhile, State Task Force recommended an extension of lock down till 30 April.

At least 10 COVID-19 patients in Odisha recover 

At least 10 individuals in Odisha who had earlier tested positive for the novel corona virus, have now recovered. The number of active cases in the state now stood at 35, India Today reported.

The COVID-19 patients were declared cured after their test results came negative.
