40 deaths, over thousand new cases since yesterday, says health ministry

642 people have recovered from COVID-19. 1035 news cases were reported yesterday ,while  40 deaths were recorded. 239 deaths have been recorded till now, said Lav Agarwal.

He also said that 586 dedicated hospitals have been reported by state governments

16,564 samples tested yesterday. 14, 210 tested at ICMR labs while private labs tested over two thousand sample, says ICMR representative.

Lockdown will continue after 14 April in Maharashtra says, Uddhav Thackeray

Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray says that he told the prime minister that he will continue lock down in the state after 14 April and requested people to not panic. The lock down will continue till 30 April he said. He said that while restrictions may be relaxed in some places, they might be tightened in others depending on the situation. He said details about schools, colleges etc will be annnounced before 14 April.

COVID-19 crisis should not be politicised, says Uddhav Thackeray

Highlighting the combined fight put up by the various states in co-ordination with the Centre, Maharahstra chief  minister Uddhav Thackeray also said that politics should not be played over the coronavirus outbreak.

60-70% patients in Mumbai have mild symptoms: Uddhav Thackeray

 
During the briefing, Uddhav Thackeray also said that 60 to 70 per cent of the nearly 1000 COVID 19 patients in Mumbai have mild or very mild symptoms. He further said Patients who died of COVID-19 had other ailments and had come to hospitals in last stages.

17 test positive in Jammu and Kashmir, total now 224

Jammu and Kashmir Principal Planning Secretary Rohit Kansal said that 17 new cases were reported in the state today — five from Jammu Division and 12 from Kashmir. Total positive cases now 224, he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about extending lockdown till  30 April in video-conferene with chief ministers, PTI quotes West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee as saying. "We are also on same page with the prime minister, want lockdown extended till 30 April, " she said.

10 new coronavirus cases in Kerala, says Pinarayi Vijayan

In his daily briefing, Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the state has reported 10 new coronavirus cases on Saturday with seven infections being reported from Kannur, one from Kozhikode and two from Kasaragod.

Seven of the ten new cases have a foreign travel history while three have contact history with COVID-19 positive patients, the chief minister said.

As of Saturday, Kerala has reported 373 confirmed cases, of which 228 are active, Vijayan added.

Meanwhile, according to ANI, a couple that recovered from COVID-19 recently has been blessed with a baby in Kannur today, the chief minister said.

Number of cases in UP rises to 448

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Uttar Pradesh climbed to 448 on Saturday, with 15 fresh cases reported, of whom eight are linked to the Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi, the state government said. Among the fresh cases, four were reported from Meerut, three each from Agra and Lucknow, two from Ghaziabad and one each from Bulandshahr, Badaun and Bhadohi, Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Awanish Awasthi said here.

 
Altogether, 254 out of the total 448 positive cases in Uttar Pradesh are linked to the Tablighi Jamaat event, he said.

58 new Covid-19 positive cases reported in Tamil Nadu, tally 969

As many as 58 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Tamil Nadu on Saturday, with this the total number positive cases in state reached 969. Also, another Covid-19 death was reported from Erode on Saturday. the death toll now stands at 10 now in the state.

Central ministers to begin work from office from Monday, says sources

According to sources, central ministers are likely to begin work from office from Monday, sources said on Saturday. Bureaucrats, including those at joint secretary level and above are also to work from govt offices, starting next week.
