Delhi Police Crime Branch arrives at Nizam-mudin Markaz 

A team of Delhi Police Crime Branch Sunday arrived at Nizam-mudin Markaz in Delhi, where the Tablighi Jamaat event took place in mid-March, to carry out an investigation.

An FIR has been registered against Tablighi Jamaat head Maulana Saad and others under the Epidemic Disease Act, ANI reported. A team of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) also arrived at the spot.

COVID-19 not airborne, says Dr Gangakhedkar

Coronavirus is not an airborne infection, said Dr Raman R Gangakhedkar, Head of Epidemiology and Communicable diseases at Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). "If this was an airborne infection and not droplet infection, every person in a family would be infected, same would apply for other patients in a hospital," he said.

Doubling rate at 4.1 days, would have been slower if not for Tablighi Jamaat event, says Lav Aggarwal

The health ministry official also attributed the spike in coronavirus cases to the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Delhi," COVID-19 cases doubling in 4.1 days presently, had Tablighi Jamaat incident not happened it would have taken 7.4 days," PTI quotes him as saying.

Over 27,000 relief camps set up, says MHA

27,661 relief camps and shelters have been set up in all states across India — 23,924 by govts and 3,737 by NGOs, said the MHA official. 12.5 hakh people are taking shelter in these camps. 19,460 food camps have also been set up - 9,951 by govts & 9,509 by NGOs. More than 75 Lakh people are being provided food, she said.

Rapid kits may be received by Wednesday, sayd ICMR

Rapid test kits might be received by Wednesday, said an ICMR official. Lav Aggarwal said that the tests will be deployed in areas where large gatherings have taken place or clusters have emerged or where evacuation centres are there. These tests can check the presence of antibodies in an individual, he said.

Confirmed cases in India rise to 3,374 says health ministry

"Total 3, 374 confirmed COVID19 cases reported in India till now; l 472 news cases reported since yesterday. Total 79 deaths have been reported; 11 deaths have been reported since yesterday. 267 persons have recovered," said Lav Aggarwal, Joint Secy, Health Ministry. He added that cases have been reported from 274 districts across the country.

 

ICMR has issued guidelines for rapid testing, says health ministry

The ICMR has issued detailed guidelines for conducting rapid tests in clusters, migration centres and has also ask people to stop consumption of tobacco to arrest spread of the disease, said the health ministry.

14 new cases detected in Kashmir

 
Rohit Kansal, Principal Secretary (Planning), Jammu and Kashmir on Twitter said that 14 new cases have been detected in the Kashmir Division, taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 106. The number of active cases in Kashmir  is 82 and Jammu is18, he said.

Two more test positive in Karnataka, tally rises to 146

In Karnataka two more COVID19 positive cases found in the past 17 hours, reported News18 Kannada. Total number of COVID19 positive case went up to 146 in the state.

Two more test positive in Bhubaneshwar

Two more persons have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha's health department ha said.  Of them, one is a 70 -year-old with a travel history to Australia while the other 29-year-old man who was found during active surveillance, it said.

Fresh COVID-19 case in Dharavi

Fresh case of the novel coronavirus was detected in Dharavi near south Mumbai, taking the total number of positive coronavirus cases to Reports of 14 new #coronavirus cases in Dharavi aren’t true.
Only 5 cases so far.

The last person to test positive before these two fresh cases was a 35-year-old doctor. Sources said all of them have been quarantined and people who could have come in contact with them are being traced.

Varanasi reports first COVID-19 death 

First novel coronavirus-related death was reported in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday. The district magistrate in a statement said that the test report of the patient from Gangapur, who passed away recently, has come positive for COVID-19.

PPEs must be utilised rationally, says health ministry

Responding to a question about shortage of PPEs, Joint Secretary Lav Aggarwal said during the press briefing that India faced a shortage initially but procurement has been stepped up. "PPEs are imported so there was a shortage initially in the country but govt started taking action in this regard from January. Domestic manufacturers have started the production, we have also started procuring PPEs from the countries where it is available," ANI quotes his as saying. Disitrict Magistrates have been asked to ensure rational usage of PPEs he said.

Confirmed cases in Punjab rise to 68

The total number of coronavirus cases in Punjab has reached 68, with three persons testing positive on Sunday, reports quoted the Punjab health department as saying. On of the positive patients had attended the Tablighi Jamaat event while one patient from Ludhiana died on Sunday, it said.

Ten of 72 Indian coronavirus patients recover in Singapore

Ten of the 72 Indian nationals infected with the novel coronavirus in Singapore have recovered and the rest are mostly in stable condition, PTI quotes  India's High Commissioner Jawed Ashraf as saying. Over 700 Indian nationals, including over 70 tourists and students, are stranded in the island nation due to non-availability of flights. They are being helped by the high commission with their visa extension and where requested with food and accommodation, the envoy told PTI.

55 new cases, state total at 690, says Maharashtra health minister

Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope said that as of 3pm on Sunday, 55 new cases had been reported in the state taking the total number of COVID-19 cases to 690. "Till date, 56 people have been cured and discharged from the hospital," he said.

Only dairies, medical stores to remain open in Bhopal

"All shops, except dairies and medical stores, in Bhopal to remain closed till further orders. Residents will be allowed to go to dairies and medical stores. This will come into effect from 12 am today till further orders,: said a order signed by additional district magistrate.
