Confirmed COVID-19 cases in US cross 3 lakh: Johns Hopkins

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the US has topped 300,000 and there have been more than 8,100 deaths, according to data collected by Johns Hopkins University.

The Baltimore-based university, which has been keeping a running tally of global coronavirus numbers, said there are at least 300,915 confirmed virus cases in the US and there have been 8,162 deaths.

Three fresh COVID-19 cases in MP

Three new COVID-19 cases emerged in Madhya Pradesh's Sendhwa, said the Block Medical Officer to ANI. "They are kin of a 90-year-old person who had died after returning from Saudia Arabia. However, his reports are awaited. We'll collect samples of all people they came in contact with," said the official.

Eight new COVID-19 cases in Gautam Budh Nagar

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Gautam Budh Nagar district of Noida rose to 58 on Sunday. "The figure includes eight new positive cases," said the District Surveillance Officer, Gautam Budh Nagar.

48 COVID-19 cases in Agra after three more test positive

The total number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in Agra reached 48 after three more individuals test positive for COVID-19. The Agra District Magistrate Prabhu N Singh said the three new patients earlier came in contact with the infected.

12 isolated in Gautam Buddh Nagar over suspicion of COVID-19 link to Tablighi Jamaat attendee

A dozen men from three mosques in Gautam Buddh Nagar have tested for the novel coronavirus and sent to an isolation facility after it emerged that they might have come in contact with a COVID-19 positive man, who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi's Nizabackn Markaz in March, officials said.

The three mosques are in the Dadri area of Greater Noida, where the coronavirus-infected man, who hails from Hardoi district in Uttar Pradesh, had stayed in the second half of March, and those have been sanitised, police said.

"We got an input from the police in Hardoi that a man had returned home after attending the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Nizabackn and appeared to be ill. He was examined by doctors and tested positive for COVID-19. We conducted an inquiry and it was found that he and one more person were on a four-month-long foot-march as part of their tour," a police official had said.

Spain overtakes Italy in positive COVID-19 cases

Spain's confirmed coronavirus case tally reached 124,736 on Saturday, surpassing Italy's 124,632, according to the latest figures from the two countries.

The tally placed Spain first in Europe and second only to the United States worldwide in terms of confirmed cases.

Italy's COVID-19 toll crosses 15,000-mark

The toll from the COVID-19 epidemic in Italy rose by 681 to 15,362, a somewhat lower rise than those seen in recent days, while the number of patients in intensive care fell for the first time, the Civil Protection Agency said.

The total number of confirmed cases rose to 124,632 from 119,827 reported on Friday, an increase of 4,805, slightly higher than the numbers over recent days which have encouraged hopes that the spread of the disease has reached a plateau.

56 private labs test COVID-19

The Indian Council of Medical Research Department (ICMR) on Saturday said there are in total 56 private laboratories to test COVID-19.

There are eight such facilities in Delhi, four in Gujarat, six in Haryana, three in Karnataka, 12 in Maharashtra, one in Odisha, seven in Tamil Nadu, nine in Telangana, one in Uttar Pradesh, one in Uttarakhand, one in West Bengal and two in Kerala.

227 COVID-19 cases in Uttar Pradesh after 16 test positive in Lucknow

Uttar Pradesh coronavirus confirmed cases are now at 227 after 16 more people tested positive for the virus in Lucknow on Saturday. King George's Medical University, Lucknow, informed that 16 people have been confirmed with COVID-19 in Uttar Pradesh out of all those who were tested on Saturday. 

Of the 16, a 50-year-old has been admitted in Banda, while seven people have been admitted at Lucknow's Balrampur hospital. Three are admitted at Lakhimpur hospital while two are in Rae-Bareli and the remaining 3 are being treated at SNMC in Agra.

23 COVID-19 cases in Ghaziabad

The chief  medical officer of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday said that total number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in the district stood at 23. The figure includes three patients who have recovered and since been discharged.

COVID-19 tally at 3,374 after 302 confirmed cases in 24 hrs 

After an increase of 302 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in last 24 hours the COVID-19 tally in the nation rose to 3,374. The figure includes 3,030 active cases, 267 cured COVID-19 patients and 77 deaths, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Patients with COVID-19 like symptoms to be treated in dedicated hospitals for virus: Andhra Pradesh govt

The Health and Family Welfare department of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday directed all private and government hospitals that all patients with COVID-19 like symptoms, even due to LVF, bronchial asthma, ARDS, SARI, Acute Myocardial infarction, will be advised to visit dedicated State/Distrcit level COVID hospitals to avoid faster spread of the virus.

When a dedicated COVID hospital is not located in the same town, such patients will be quarantined in separate rooms in the same hospital. Treatment will be provided with proper protective gear by doctors and other medical staff.

Tamil Nadu coronavirus cases

Death toll in Tamil Nadu due to COVID-19 rose to five on Sunday with the death of a 71-year-old man who died on April 2 at Ramnathapuram district after testing positive for novel coronavirus. Another 60-year-old man also positive tested positive for the deadly virus and passed away at Stanley medical college hospital at Chennai.

82-yr-old succumbs to COVID-19 in Jaipur; virus claims five lives in Rajasthan 

An 82-year-old coronavirus positive man died at the state-run SMS Hospital in Jaipur on Sunday. Rajasthan recorded five more cases of the virus, an official said.

The virus has so far claimed five lives in the state.

"An 82-year-old man died at SMS Hospital in Jaipur today. He was admitted on Saturday. Further details are awaited. Six new cases have come up, including the patient who died," Additional Chief Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh said.

100-yr-old man dies in quarantine in Udhampur, test report says negative for COVID-19

A 100-year-old man has died in a quarantine centre in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir but his COVID-19 test report has come negative, a senior government official said on Sunday.

The man and his brother were shifted to a quarantine facility a few days ago as a precautionary measure after it came to light that they had come in contact with a person in Magheni village who had tested positive for coronavirus, District Development Commissioner of Udhampur Piyush Singla said.

"He breathed his last on Saturday night and his body was subsequently shifted to the district hospital according to protocol since his test report was awaited. The report was received on Sunday morning and it came negative," he told PTI.
