One of country's oldest circus affected due to lockdown, performers stranded in Navi Mumbai

One of the biggest circuses in the country is amongst those affected due the lockdown even as its performers remain stranded at Airoli in Navi Mumbai. Rambo Circus is one of the oldest surviving circuses of the country. Circuses were also asked to shut down after the growing numbers of Covid-19 cases in the country.

The performers had come to Airoli in Navi Mumbai on March 6 and held few shows, but on March 13 authorities asked the circus to cancel all the shows due to the growing contagion of Covid-19. (Divyesh Singh reports)

With 133 more deaths, toll in Iran rises to 3,872

Iran has reported 133 new deaths from the novel coronavirus, taking the total number of officially confirmed fatalities to 3,872. In the past 24 hours, 2,089 new cases of Covid-19 infection were recorded across the country, health ministry spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour said.

India on Tuesday has gifted a 10-tonne consignment of essential life-saving medicines to the Sri Lankan government in view of the ongoing Covid-19 crisis. An Air India Special Charter flight was sent to Sri Lanka with the delivery.

2 Covid-19 patients from Gautam Buddha Nagar discharged

Two Covid-19 patients from Gautam Buddha Nagar were discharged from the hospital after being cured. The treatment of both patients was going on in the Government Institute of Medical Sciences. There were 58 cases of Covid-19 in the district so far. And so far, 10 people have been discharged from the hospital.

69 new cases reported in Tamil Nadu, 690 total so far

Tamil Nadu Health Secretary Beela Rajesh said that 69 new cases were reported in the state on Tuesday.

"Three people who tested positive are from the same family. One member of the family had come in contact with someone with a travel history abroad. There are 690 total cases in Tamil Nadu, he said.

Total deaths reported in the state is seven while 19 have been cured and discharged.

Nine new COVID-19 cases reported in Kerala today

Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that nine people tested positive for coronavirus in the state on Tuesday, of which four are from Kasargod, three are from Kannur, one each from Kollam and Malappuram.

He also said that of the new cases, four people had returned from abroad, two are attendees of the Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi and three people were affected from contact.

Delhi Cancer Institute OPD shut after staff found Covid-19 positive

The Out-Patient Department (OPD) at Delhi State Cancer Institute has been shut and patients are being temporarily shifted to a private hospital after several DSCI staffers tested positive for Covid-19, a senior official said on Tuesday. Two doctors and 16paramedic have tested positive for coronavirus at DSCI. (PTI reports)
