Over 22 million Americans have now filed for jobless claims since the coronavirus crisis began, nearly wiping out all the job gains since the Great Recession.

• That was a drop of 1.37 million from a week earlier but was above estimates for 5 million.
• Numbers not adjusted for seasonal factors actually showed a 20% decline.
