Trunk ports are ports configured as trunk . This will specifically tag vlan with a vlan ID ..and both side of the trunk link needs to be configured as a trunk port. In modern switching technology we use a 802.1q encapsulation for trunking. Advantage is to seperated broadcast domain for each vlan. Also it makes per vlan security configuration easy.
