Pro video gamer retires, citing hand injury
Thomas Paparatto, a 25-year-old pro video gamer, said Tuesday that he is hanging up the controller after sustaining an injury to his thumb and wrist.Paparatto, who goes by the nickname ZooMaa as a member of the New York Subliners of the Call of Duty League, said in a statement that the injury made it difficult to “compete at the highest level.”Thomas "ZooMaa" Paparatto is hanging up the joystick.

“I don’t enjoy competing when I can’t be the ZooMaa everyone knows and loves,” he said in the statement, adding, “It breaks my heart to step away from a game I put my heart and soul into every single day for eight years.”The Call of Duty League launched last year and has a dozen teams. “I have met so many amazing people through esports and have made so many friendships I’ll continue to cherish for the rest of my life,” Paparatto said in his statement.
