I am not really sure  recent times lo ela undo.  But i think for B2 it is one appointment.

Pro Tip: I heard people book wheel chair for older parents, it will help so the wheelchair assistant can show the letter to POE Officer.

They dont ask much questions or any documents. I had my parents carry below mentioned documents when they visited. 

If they are bringing any gold be careful. I have one of our friends had to pay $600 and they grilled for 6 hours at the airport. 
Just mention gold as for personal use and not a gift to son/daughter. I will be taken back to india with them.

It is better to take health insurance in this COVID era - I would suggest Comprehensive coverage for 6 months ( Atlas America 250K/500 Deductible -1099 each - United Healthcare network - insubuy.com or visitorscoverage.com ). Policies from India you have to claim after wards and customer experience is horrible. 

Even Wheel chair book cheyyaka poyina - there will be desi/telugu folks in flight willing to help if we are ready to ask for directions. Oka vela wheel chair book chesthe have cash handy. Newark airport they demand 20$ tip. 

If both parents are traveling they can manage somehow rather than a single parent- Desi People will be ready to help and share directions etc !! and I would prefer not to use wheel chair unless medical reasons and if they can manage the first time, and next time onwards they will be comfortable traveling.

Nenu same letter type chesi, maa inlaws ki icha, that thye can't speak and understand english ani, clearga reason for visit and how long they will stay and my contact number, avasaram ayithe I will be in lobby ani. 
Immigration officer ki isthe, vadu chusi no questions asked, just visa check chesi., finger prints tesukoni stamp vesi pampinchadu. 

inko friend kuda same ilane chesadu, no isseues, but immigration officer gadu vadiki call chesi, cross check chesukunadu anta info in letter. 

Wheel chair is best to book for anyonenot only old, ikkada landa ayyaka direct ga vade immigration officer deggariki tesukupoyyi, ayipoyaka luggage belt deggera luggage collect chesukunaka arrival varuku drop chestadu. 

Same in india, once luggage drop in chesaka, up to boarding gate daaka tesukupothadu, adiki 100 or 200 isthe happy ga feel avuthadu, ivvalsina avasaram ledu. 

PS: this is in UK, I think it will be same in US
