Hi Everyone, I am fundraising for my cousin sister Rama. As we started this year with a lot of hope after the vaccine news that we can have good time again with our family member's and friends, tragedy and a very unfortunate situation struck all of us which may have never anticipated in our lives. We were never that close to a situation like this and we were helpless not knowing what's going on.

On February 22nd Rama 33 years old gave birth to a baby boy and everything was normal. She was having headaches after giving birth and the doctors gave some medicine's for pain and we were told that nothing to worry as these were all common after post pregnancy and will be gone in few weeks. They were discharged on Feb 24th night, after coming home her headache gradually increased and the pain medication couldn't help. We decided to go to emergency on that night around 2.00 AM, due to covid policies they did not allow anyone into the emergency, she was only allowed and they did some tests after couple of hours due to unavailability of room's. After few hours of tests and other blood work around 7.00 AM on Feb 25th  they discharged her as the CT scan and other reports came back normal. They gave some medicines and she was ok after taking them, they prescribed some pain medications.

She was back home but was still suffering with headaches on and off.  Another day passed and on Feb 26th they went for the first pediatric appointment for the baby, suddenly her headache increased significantly at the doctors office and they came back home. She slept for some time and woke up everything seems normal, had lunch spent time with the baby and family members. Around 10.30 PM on Feb 26th she started to have the headache back again and this time it was very serious and she couldn't tolerate it. She started to vomit and suddenly started to lose control of her hands and legs and went unconscious. We did call 911 as we noticed it was getting serious when she started vomiting.

As soon as the ambulance arrived they took her to the JFK emergency in Edison, NJ. We were told to follow them and we waited for an hour outside not knowing what was happening. After an hour we were called inside, the doctors came and told us that she had internal bleed of 6cms on her left side of the brain and all the neuro doctors were discussing for the next steps. They did mention to us that this was a huge hemorrhage and they were not sure how much she can recover even after the surgery.

They came back after 15 mins which was around 2.00 AM Feb 27th and told us they need to do a lifesaving surgery (open brain surgery)the only way that they can try to save the patient.  The surgery took around 6 hours and the surgery was successful to an extent as they could remove the blood, but there was a significant damage to the brain tissues that was caused by the bleed. The surgeon also mentioned that there was blood in the brain stem which they couldn't clear and said they did their best. The only thing we can do is to hope for the recovery and count day by day.

Post surgery from Feb27th she is in ICU after Craniotomy and is intubated, her condition is very critical. She did had an cardiac arreston Mar 1st early morning around 4.00 am and they gave the CPR to save her life. Currently we believe, Rama will have to undergo couple of more surgeries and few more weeks of critical care. Her parents came to US on an emergency visa and they were shocked to see this and collapsed. They couldn't digest this news seeing their one and only daughter in this critical condition.

At this point after the critical care, Rama needs skilled nursing homewhere she will be there until she can get back to senses, she also requires several months of rehabilitation. We are expecting significant expense for the family post insurance coverage and family savings. Although she has health insurance that covers the basics, there are still many medical expenses that cannot be covered by the family.

This unexpected events has caused tremendous shock and pressureto her immediate family members.   Already suffering with the shock of this unforeseen events, financial stress and strain should not be a concern for her immediate family.   We are requesting everyone to please contribute any amount they wish and support the family. If you are willing to donate, click on the donate button to do so. The funds will be directly sent to her husband, Ravikanth.

Rama arrived in the USA and made a lot of personal connections and friends who treat her like family. Rama hails from Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Currently, Rama lives in Edison, NJ along with husband, Ravikanth and a 1 month old boy, Shreyan. Rama also supports her aged parents in India.

We are creating this gofundme page to support Rama and family to manage expenses related to hospitalization, after consulting immediate family.
