Idk what kind of info you have, Karnataka and tamil nadu  generate more central taxes than both AP/ TG combined in 2019,2020

Agricultural states do not generate taxes simply because it's a tax exempt activity

Tamil nadu is the most urbanised state in India and pretty uniformly industrialised . In comparison telugu states are just agricultural lands with industries only in Hyderabad , visakapatnam and sricity area . 

Even ahmedabad and Pune and generating as much tax as Hyderabad from a long time  and those states are not based around on  those cities alone unlike Telangana.

Mana self dabba thappa Hyderabad was never a competition to Bengaluru after 1990 . 

Same way , almost all other big cities have outgrown Hyderabad after 1990 barring Chennai which has stagnated a bit
