Severe turbulence hits Vistara flight, 8 injured

As many as eight passengers were injured on a Vistara flight from Mumbai to Kolkata on Monday, which encountered severe turbulence 15 minutes before landing. Of the eight, while five suffered only minor injuries, three were taken to the hospital.

“Three passengers after review at airport medical facility were taken to hospital. One passenger has been discharged while other two are under going X-ray diagnostic for any bone related injury,” sources in the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said.

They added that while one of the passengers, a 61-year-old, received fracture in her right hand, another, aged 77, suffered spinal tenderness injury. The third passenger, aged 36, received minor cut on forehead and was released after being administered first-aid.

 

The flight UK775 was being operated on a Boeing 737-800 aircraft and was carrying 113 passengers on board. It departed from Mumbai at 1.48pm and arrived into Kolkata at 4.28pm

 

“We are saddened by this unfortunate experience our customers had, and are closely monitoring the health status of those injured. We are investigating the incident on priority, and will share a further update at the earliest,” a Vistara spokesperson said.

Seat belts pettukomani urke anaru.  Ppl can get seriously injured. Wanted to see if the ppl who got injured had them buckled up.

I couldn’t find anywhere that those injured weren’t buckled up.

Interested to see more details, it’s scary to know you can get injured even if you had your belt on.

akkada injuries are right hand fracture, spinal compression, and forehead injury.. all three are possible with seat belts as well.. turbulence eppudanna experience chesaara bros?

Yep experienced it while flying from Mumbai to have Hyderabad.
