AP Official FB Page On Covid Gets $35000!

Interesting as it might sound, the Andhra Pradesh government’s medical and health department which has been doing tremendous job in containing the Covid-19 in the state, has also earned a good amount of money during the pandemic.

The department has been disseminating information about Covid-19 through its social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram besides WhatsApp, besides creating awareness among the people about the precautions to prevent Covid-19.

The official Facebook page of the department -- @ArogyaAndhra has a huge number of followers – as many as 1,63,704 compared to Gujarat’s 25,564, Tamil Nadu’s 7,953, Telangana’s 13,613, Karnataka’s 1,03,077, Kerala’s 1,17,544 and Odisha’s 89,068 followers.

In view of the active participation and campaign through Facebook, the Andhra Pradesh government has got credits from Facebook to the tune of US $ 20,000 during current second wave of Covid. During the first wave, too, the government also got advertisements worth US $ 15,000.

An official statement said Facebook also enabled the department with Covid alert option which allows it to send Covid alerts to all Facebook users in Andhra Pradesh which has a reach of more than two million. 

“The Facebook is also providing technical help for advertisements, besides content development through their Facebook Marketing Partners,” the statement said.
