If you are considering transporting a body by air, there are three important things you should know about the costs.

  • You cannot arrange to transport a dead body on a plane by yourself.
  • By law, you have to hire a funeral home to assist you.
  • The actual cost of transportation to fly a dead body will cost you more than a first-class ticket would.

The cost of embalming
The cost of embalming in the USA is around US$400- US$700, and internationally it is about US$725.

Preparing the body for a flight
The funeral home will prepare the body for you and ensure they are ready to fly. The process of preparing the body for a flight is relatively simple. The body is double-wrapped in plastic and then packed into an air-tray, generally, a wood-bottom tray with a lid made of cardboard, filled with cooling gel packs.

Additional funeral home fees
Other possible fees a funeral home could charge for include:

Any fees to the funeral home(s) for the coordination of the shipping.
The fee for the transport from the place of death to the funeral home.
The fee for forwarding remains to another funeral home US$1400-US$3000.
The fee for receiving remains from another funeral home US$1000- US$2500.
The fee for keeping the body at the funeral home (per day) US$100- US$300.
The fee for the funeral director to collate the paperwork to transport the body. This could also include securing any necessary permits or copies of the death certificate, cancellation of the passport at the respective embassy or consulate, cancellation of the work visa at the Immigration Department, obtaining a release letter from the police, hospital confirmation that infectious disease is absent, and the embalming certificate.
The fee for any translation needed for the required documentation, into English. Including any copies that may be required.

The airline’s fees
Generally, this cost will depend on the body’s weight, the location of death, and the distance the body will be flown.

The additional fees you will pay for.

A secure casket (An approved metal container or combination unit)
An air-tray made of wood, particleboard, corrugated fiberboard, plastic, or other water repellent material.
A mortuary cargo fee, which can be anywhere between US$2000- US$6000, depending on where the final destination is.
Airport tax, which can vary.

To give you an idea, the estimate of transporting remains internationally can be as much as US$10,000,

Ikkada chesthey max 10k. India ki pampithet max 20-30k.

The problem with gfm campaigns is that they are looking for 200k-1m. Breadwinner poyinappudu obviously life change avuthundi. But people are not ready to accept it. And breadwinners are so careless that they can't spend $100 to take life insurance.

500k antey 3.5crores. India lo aa money tho 20-30 families life change cheyyochu

GFM campaigns these days are hardly making any significant money these days. Amongst the many, hardly less than 5% rake in big money.

Planning for the well being of your family for when you are not living, is the biggest help that you can do for them. Of course it is a different thing if you have amassed enough wealth. Even in those cases make sure that you choose to distribute the wealth to people who you think that it should go to.

Death is a painful subject for any family, but the situation after death is even more painful. Especially when there is a financial element is uncertain.

Many incidents recently have been troubling me.. onething we overlook a lot is our death situation.. ikkadaki vachi naturalize avutunnam.. kaani chastey ikkada expenses bochedu.. alaaney manasu India loney.. body India vellalani korukuntaam.. near and dear taggaraki anukuntaamu.. naa gurinchey aalochinchukuntey, my family here or in India do not know anything about how to deal with the situation.. I want to give them some solace by planning all events.. ee GoFundMe situations enduko naaku ardham kaavu.. and I don't want my family to be in that situation if those fund raisers are required.. so, meelo evarikanna information telistey step by step kinda rendu situations ga vidadeesi raayandi.. verey vaallaki kooda panikostadi anukuntunna..

Situation1: If everything needs to happen here. What are the steps and what are the costs and ways to fund them?

Situation2: If you need to be sent back to India, what are the steps, clearances required, how to acquire them, costs, et cetera.

Thank you all for contributing..

finanicial- take life insurance.. 500-1m.. maha aaite every year oka 400- 650 padudi..

situation1- do a will.. and give custody to close by people whom you trust..they also need to notarize it aggreeing to take over custody.. other wise kids will be sent to foster homes.. and its a headache paper work to hand over kids to your parents in india.. and ikade migata karyakramalu ante.. simple and straight untai ...you just call 911 and they will do the rest or in hospital they will assist you..

situation2- use help for so called telugu organizations.. they have standard template.. rough ga oka 20k expenses and 3-4 days patudi..

my recommendation is to go with situation1.. inka india bognu boshanam.. timewaste.. mana body chusi intlo vallaki pani ekuva create cheytam tapa emi use undadu...
