Most Companies pay 60 to 90 days severance pay during departure , so you are technically still employed. 

Unless you have received payment for the time period , non compete clause cannot be enforced anywhere in USA. 

 

I think enforcement is state specific in USA.

Yea some states like Florida implement it strictly while most democrat ruled states don't enforce . 

 

In any case it would require huge legal expenditure by the company to sue

Dig your emails. Employer gaadu edaina langa pani chesi untadiga, like asking for h1 fees, or perm fees. Or post the mestri details here and someone might be able to help
