Anta Assamey Posted August 18, 2021 Report Share Posted August 18, 2021 The Indian diaspora across the world celebrated the 75th Indian independence day on August 15 2021. One such community that celebrated this occasion with great fervor is in Mountain House, Bayarea organized by Mountain House Sports & Recreation CLUB, a charming little neighborhood 60 miles east of San Francisco, California. This community is home to a significant number of expatriates from India who never miss on celebrating and experiencing traditional Indian events. This year saw an unprecedented turnout of members of the Indian community to partake in the festivities. The event organized by Suresh Vuyyuru, a Mountain House resident and founder of Mountain House Sports & Recreation CLUB, was attended by local community leaders Mr.Steven Sievers from the offices of Carlos Villapudua (California State Assembly Member), Board of Directors , MHCSD Brian Lucid, Bernice King Tingle, Harry Dhillon and Vinetha Danial LUSD, Dr. Lakireddy Hanimi Reddy, Cardiologist, Merced. We also welcome Robert Rickman (Board of Supervisors - San Joaquin county) who hoisted the national flags of the United States of America and Dr. Lakireddy hoisted the Indian flag alongside each other. Founder of Mountain House Sports & Recreation CLUB addressed the crowd and said the mission of this CLUB will be dedicated to nurturing and providing opportunities in sport and physical fitness for Mountain House kids from low income families and improve the recreation for the MH citizens, they are willing to provide real cricket ground for Cricketers if the 10 acre land can be used as cricket ground within 5 miles of Mountain House. Dinesh Babu from Kurinji Tamil Manram, Pramit from Central Valley Gujarati Community Association, Shrinivas Varanasi & Ashwini Kadayinti from MHTC, Prasad Mangina From BATA, Sateesh Vemuri Bhaktha Balla Chandra Guntupalli from TANA, Raghu Malapaka From Mountain House-Tracy Tennis Foundation, Krish from MHCC, Tom Dhilip Gopala Krishnan from MOHAM helped for the event. Sagar Kotha, Realtor is GOLD sponsor for this event along with others Suresh Sudula, MicroNet IT Staffing, SAVI Commercial PLAZA, Tracy. Many volunteer teams including Sreenivas Veeramalla, Asif Mohmad, Rajani Kanth Kakarla, Sreedhar Chava, Rajasekhar Vesangi, Prasad SreeRama, Pradeep Pisharram, Sravan Yampaty, Rashi Agarwall, Murali Gudavarthy, Dinesh, Jagadeesh, Thiru, Venkata Sudheer Pakala, Polam Reddy worked together to organize art performances by professionals as well as members of the local community. Traditional Indian art form performances such as Kathak , Odissi , Carnatic songs as well as a scintillating Yoga display were deeply appreciated by audiences. The event also included renditions of Indian movie songs in the Karaoke format and dances to movie numbers performed by community members. The finale consisted of a flash mob performing dances to foot tapping numbers from Indian movies of various languages. This drew an enthusiastic participation from the crowd. The event also had plenty of stalls which sold Indian clothing , artwork and other decorative items. Many local restaurants Himalayan Kitchen, Sankranthi, Bawarchi, Mr. Biryani Kavya Foods, New INDIA SuperMarket, Dhaba joined hands by serving a sumptuous dinner for all attendees Srinivas Veeramalla, Madhu stood for the food serving.
