Cadillac Lyriq EV

GM invested 20 years in battery research and self driving tech - finally their research is coming to fruition with new cars that will have in house Ultium battery packs, super cruise self driving. Etc.  One complaint about Tesla is that interior of model 3 and model Y is too basic and the suspension is too firm, the ride quality is not so great if you are coming from BMW, Merc or Cadillac.

Cadillac Lyriq - it is a crossover starting at $60k minus $12,500 ev credit if it passes(mostly will). It will compete with Model Y but it is more luxurious. 300 miles range and self driving etc.

this looks like the first tesla competitor competing on price, specs and technology. Super cruise is reviewed as the best self driving tech in the market currently.

One issue with GM and Ford cars is the resale price.. most of the cars lose value after few years…

and also electric cars catch fire if they are not properly designed and don’t have enough safety controls.. Tesla have a very good warning system and sensors that alert the driver in case of any issue in the car…

tesla cars have high resale value sometimes at par with new cars too..

Tesla lower end has good resale because of low availability and high demand but top end depreciates just like other cars, model s and x brought 3 years ago would have depreciated by 40-50k.

there are no worthy competitors to tesla is another reason for good second hand market but new cars from GM will atleast be in consideration since their new platform works just like Tesla.

GM and Ford nevers gives about sedans because it is low margin business, all the money is in the trucks. A truck costs 70k and is a very high margin sale

resale price depends on reliability and(or) market demand. For all the reasons I know, I hate GM engines & transmissions. ippudu inka electric cars lo asalu engine ee vundadu & transmission hav to wait for few yrs.

Asian makers win the sedan war but when comes to transmission in trucks they are regarded as crap and hence none of the asian car makers could beat bjg 3 and they are still the gold standard. Part of GM and Ford business they sell engines for other applications such motor boats, race cars etc.  toyota tacoma, honda  ridgeline and nissan trucks are underwhelming and flops.

Efficiency wise too the trucks too have come a long way, newer trucks give better mileage than my q60. GMC sierra 24MPG anta.

Asalu data lekunda ee car lu self driving etla chesuntaayi… Inko decade varaku nothing will come close to Tesla .. it will take a while for all these companies to catch up

GM uses and most other auto makers use ladar/radar and camera but Tesla which is only relying on cameras only in the latest versions. The super cruise and tesla autonpilot are both level 2 autonomous driving. GM works on marked roads while Tesla works onany road but GM does it more reliably and with more safety. Also GM is 100% handsfree while Tesla is not as you still need to have hands on the steering wheel. All the new GM vechiles are going to be equipped with super cruise. Super cruise is the only viable alternative to tesla at this point.
