Seen this in many cases… Boys’ or girls’ parents usually turn a blind eye if the other persons parents are rich and are from a higher caste… may be they think that their kid will be settled if he/she is marrying into a wealthy family..

I doubt they will encourage if  the other person is from a lower caste and poor background
