The name Telangana is derived from the word Telugu Angana, which means a place where Telugu is spoken. The Nizams (1724-1948) used the word Telangana to differentiate it from the Marathi speaking regions of their kingdom

Andhra text book entra, Telugu text book. Andhra doesn't mean anything, it just means South. The current Andhra Pradesh is coastal Andhra (coastal South) and Rayalaseema (rayala palana lo unde seema). The current Telangana means Telugu matlade place. Andhra is just a direction (south). Telangana is derived from Telugu.
