Elon Musk will Pay $11 Billion in Taxes This Year

Tesla CEO Elon Musk in a tweet on Monday said he will pay over $11 billion in taxes this year.

Earlier this week, Democratic US Senator Elizabeth Warren took to Twitter to say that Musk should pay taxes and stop "freeloading off everyone else" after Time magazine named him its "person of the year".

In response, Musk tweeted, "If you opened your eyes for 2 seconds, you would realize I will pay more taxes than any American in history this year."

Musk is the world's richest person and his company Tesla is worth about $1 trillion. Over the last few weeks, Musk has sold nearly $14 billion worth of Tesla shares.

You do understand that his wealth is all tied to Tesla and spacex stock and he personally gets very little of that in hand

If his stock falls by 60%  he will be bankrupt if you tax him at net worth

He might be selling a lot shares and thus paying this capital gains tax

What I would like to see is inheritance tax above 10 mil dollars  and close all loopholes with trust funds
