After Left parties, KCR holds talks with RJD

A couple of days after holding discussions with the leaders of the Left parties, Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday held talks with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leaders.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, son of former Bihar chief minister Laloo Prasad Yadav, called on the Telangana chief minister at Pragati Bhavan, the official residence of the latter.

Yadav, who is also the Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly, was accompanied by former minister Abdul Bari Siddiqui, ex-MLC Sunil Singh and former MLA Bhola Yadav.

A statement from the CMO described the meeting as a courtesy call. Telangana Industry Minister and KCR’s son K.T. Rama Rao, MP Santosh Kumar and others were present during the meeting.

It is understood that KCR and Tejashwi Yadav discussed the national political situation and the efforts by the opposition parties to forge an alliance to take on the BJP government at the Centre.

The meeting came close on the heels of KCR’s separate meetings with top leaders of the CPI and the CPI-M. Apparently, the Left party leaders sought the cooperation of the chief minister in consolidation of the anti-BJP forces in the country so as to get rid of the BJP in the next general elections.

Reports said KCR had discussed with them in detail the anti-people policies of the National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre, including anti-farmer legislations, disinvestment in public sector undertakings, usurping of powers of the states which is against the federal spirit, misuse of central agencies to target BJP’s political rivals etc.

Sources said the meeting of RJD leaders is also part of KCR’s larger game plan to form an anti-BJP front at the national level.
