This  property neither a private land nor government land. They will rebuild the club building but they have huge ground and other things - 22 acre parcel. Technically 8000 members own the club or have a say. Most of the cantonment retires and families have membership in this and they won’t let any of that fly.

Membership to the Club is extremely difficult to get these days. The Club has slowed down on granting new memberships due to a large member - base. Memberships are bequeathed across generations by the members, much like family heirlooms.

A devastating and massive fire completely gutted the 144-year-old historic Secunderabad Club, one of the most celebrated and elite clubhouses in the city in the early hours on Sunday.

The club’s library, Colonnade Bar, and the administration office are among the structures that were destroyed in the fire.

The fire is believed to have started in the barroom between 12 and 1 am, and by 3 am, when seven fire tenders were rushed the entire building was on fire. Initial attempts by some club staff to put out the fire did not help with the liquor stores of the club also catching fire.

It is Nizam(Salar Jung) who given this building to Britishers (he used to use it as resting house when he went for hunting).

Technically after British left, all of the lands then stationed  by British military in secunderbad are under Cantonment. Even begumpet airport falls under Cantonment and AAI used to pay 1Rupee as lease fee per year or something. That makes me think that this is also owned or leased out by Cantonment.

Secunderabad doesn’t fall under the jurisdiction of GHMC, they have a separate municipal board called Cantonment board which looks after public and civic affairs. They have different elections as well

So basically the jurisdiction is ambiguous at best ?
