Android_Halwa
Not really. The Idea of India was non-existent a century back. Historical links, culture and demographics bind a nation. It's not even been a century and it's too early to expect "The idea of India"

Historical links, culture and demographics bind a nation. It's not even been a century and it's too early to expect "The idea of India" Well, India as an Idea existed much before a century. What we need to look at is, the kingdoms existed across the land and languages and thrived well. But, post the language based partition of the states, we are trying to lock ourselves in an imaginary box and keep fighting for an identity that is hindering our real identity. Linguistic origin is highly flawed and debated. Examples like, Kalinga kingdom spanned Andhra and Odisha, Nizams spread over Telangana, Karnataka and Maharastra, Cholas spread all over South and upto Bengal at their peak. So, when people could thrive under multilingual, cultural identities, several centuries ago, why do we find it difficult now.

The India that we are talking about has been in existence for the last 75 years which came into being after merger of princely states. Anyway, the issue here is the linguistic identity and must agree with you that this identity is hindering the real identity. I think we should have never organized states instead we should have identified all those five hundred princely kingdoms as states. Over the time, they would have themselves merged citing many reasons most importantly desperate reasons.

They seem to be integrating well. South was mostly 3/4 big states. We have a lot of infighting.
