The biggest issue is you can’t rent an apartment if this credit history sucks at background check , if not for apartment where will you stay? Motels? Or hotels? 
That’s the only major thing you think, other than that credit score is no big deal, you can always buy a home or car with cash or your with your paycheck

Pay the debt if it is taken to court 

Don't pay $$$ to debt collectors.... Coz even though you pay ....it doesn't boost your credit score.... 

They buy debt from the creditor, pennies on dollar
