Let them sit in savings account. At this point, thats the best option. I have had my money sitting in my savings since last december.

Not an expert - but personally hate the idea of making money sit in the bank. At the same time 6-8 months is too short. 

Look at treasury bonds - those are 1y lock in. 

Leka pothe use that money to open new bank accounts that will give signup bonuses for maintaining balance for 90 days etc. Divide the pot and conquer the bonus.
