Ok , I fly two times a months 

I fly on delta exclusively all the time , I buy main cabin with full price and it will give me option to upgrade when I am checking in 

when I book it is usually 300 to 400 dollars for business 

but when I am checking in it is 70 to 80 dollars if the flight is empty 

also I am on automatic upgrade list ( gold member ) 

if there are 10 people above you , you might not be that lucky

but for me 80% chance I will fly first class if not premium economy so far all with main cabin tickets
