If you think .. having more runs under one's name makes that person eligible to be part of a squad .. then u don't understand how cricket as a sport is played .. To win a tournament .. we require a player who can win the game for a team from any situation .. if you look back .. Kohli has been part of many ICC tournaments .. and he has failed to perform multiple times in knock out matches .. which is why we didnt win an ICC tournament in a decade .. what's the use of so many runs .. if they dont come at the right time ???

You're right .. Kohli was the highest scorer in WC 2023 coz .. he was given that role to play a lengthier innings during the middle phase .. and the openers were just supposed to come in and score runs quickly in the PP for Kohli to utilise it and put a big score on the board .. however he failed to do that on the most important day .. and we lost once again !!!

Kohli is also the top scorer in IPL 2024 .. and hw many matches was he able to win for his team with those scores of his ?? he's questioned for his SR coz .. his centuries came at the expense of team total which could hv been more!!  And was he able to win a single trophy for his franchise in all these years during which he played for RCB ???

On d odr hand, look at Rohit .. his IPL record is phenomenal .. he has 5 trophies under his name .. and that's what matters !! Also .. in WC 2023, he rarely failed to play his role of scoring quick runs in PP .. and that was the reason why India was able to put big totals .. even in the final match against Australia .. he was able to take India's total to 80
+ within first 10 overs .. and once he got out .. whole team including Kohli couldn't score more than 160 runs in the nxt 40 overs .. and that's where we lost the game ..

We shd stop looking at individual records .. in a sport which is played by 11 players a side .. and we'd only win if everyone plays in a way which would help the team win that game .. Look at today's Australia's squad for T20 WC 2024 .. they dropped Steve Smith .. who's considered as one of the fab4 along with Kohli in this era of cricket .. do you think he can't play as well as Kohli does ?? but he's still dropped coz they feel his way of playing is not aligned with this format and what the team expects from its players .. and that's why Australia has always been the top team in Cricket with highest no. of ICC trophies ..
