I’ve been living in Austin since 2011. Just 4-5 years Ronald Reagan seems to be a dead road with no shops, no gas stations and nothing. With that HEB on 29 hwy now, everything has changed. I’ve heard that Walmart and Home Depot are also coming near the HEB. One incident I remember is, in 2014 I think, there was a land parcel near to HEB around 25 acres, which was priced at 15,000 per acre. Today the same land would be somewhere around 600-700K per acre. I didn’t buy the land back then and chose to buy a house (which also appreciated though, but not as much as land).

monthly house payments (mortgage+property taxes + insurance + utilities) should not exceed 30-40% of your take home salary..
