Things changed recently. I may go back  to India based on parent's health condition with age ..

assuming SP500 returns 7%, do we expect the Indian real estate returns beat that,  if so in what range after paying capital gains and losing money to forex and rupee depreciation..

Yes it can easily beat that!

if your IL's have not given anything to her daughter, it only infers that they would not use your investment correctly for your benefit

second, if you have started with 0, do not trust anyone with your hard-earned money

Invest here in US either in Index funds and wait for it to build up to buy a home later. it is pain in A to get back the funds if you wish to sell them in India and repatriate.

anta 4-8 times returns iche technology unna maa FIL why didnt he do that with his money.

In laws are not rich enough to give any property . I am fine with that as I was not expecting and I trust them.

He does not have money to invest . Agree with all other stuff.

Thanks bro ..

there are few but very rare.

e.g. in 2010 there were apartments behind mind space raheja that were sold for 60 to 75L, back then they looked very expensive, but today even those old apartments are going for close to 2cr.

bhooja is a good example, so is avatar, when it started initially to the date when occupancy was given grew 3 fold.

You can transfer 1M dollars each year from India to USA under the Million Dollar Scheme. If you transfer 1M before March, you can transfer another 1M in April or later = 2M in the same year but have to wait until following year to transfer more.

Don’t send money to india, everything is paper value until you actually sell it,

once you sell it’s not easy to bring that money back in legal way.

keep the money in dollars if possible, meaning in stocks or real estate or bonds.
