Indian armed forces were stationed in Mali at the request of their government...and more over combat ready forces emi kavu deploy chesindi, naval station development and training kosam deploy chesina force to help them....tsunami tarvata they reached out to India for maritime help and Indian defense forces are providing them with support...

What are Indian troops doing there?

According to Muizzu's office, there are 77 Indian defence personnel in the country. They help operate helicopters and Dornier aircraft, which have been provided to improve emergency services and medical evacuations in the Maldives. These troops have conducted more than 500 medical evacuations over the past five years. According to experts, these platforms are also expected to improve the island nation's maritime surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities.

India against protests avthunnapudu Indian govt didn’t react.. they reacted only after their ministers posted derogatory comments on modi for visiting lakshadweep islands..

modi ni ante modi fans oorukoru kadaa 😄

Actually, this has lot of other angles.. Muslim - Hindu, Palestine issue and India’s support to Israel, Indian support to the previous govt that lost in elections, China’s increasing influence in that country, etc etc

Boycott trend backfire kuda avtadi sometimes..Chinese tourists may be more than happy to replace us in Maldives. Long term may not have much effect than increasing the prices for Indians.

its not just tourism kada...Maldives inko couple decades tharuvatha undadhu...its a group lo small and buchiki buchiki islands...raising sea levels coupled with global warming ki hardly  3 - 5 decades ey untadi. Indian ocean will submerge entire Maldives.  Population wise kuda chaala thakkuva and their economy is also very very bleak.....so India lanti neighboring country who helped in many ways ila sudden ga enmity cheskunte kastam. 20 - 30% tourists are Indians. You may think Chinese tourists will replace this....but it doesnt work out that way. Chinku gallu already Maldives ni visit chesthune unnaru since many yrs....sudden ga vallu sympathy chupinchi ee 20-30% gap manam fill chedam ani anukoru....valla traffic valla lekka valladi...vache vallu vastharu anthe.....kani Maldives lanti buchiki country ki 20-30% is a lot. Coming yrs lo more Indians will visit as spending power increases in India. Goa ki elanti traffic undo, ah range lo Maldives ki untadi. So diplomatic ties with India is very very crucial + Maldives lo agriculture emi undadhu...India nundi ekkuva supply avthundi because of distance......so there is a lot n lot of other things which we dont know.

I agree they need India more bro all I am saying is its easy to do a knee jerk reaction and make a scene out of everything but difficult to take a good strategic decision which will benefit the country long term.

The govt can silently subsidize travel and promote a good eco friendly phased plan to develop lakshadweep long term to compete with Maldives even though it's size is smaller to Maldives.

I just hope these sort of things don't push Maldives even closer to China and cause another South China sea kind development near India.

Our govt should work on making their people pro India rather than pro china which won't happen when you make it an us vs them kind of situation.
