Food is bad in Canada as well. Try checking the food labels for sodium content when you go to box stores like Walmart, Sobeys, Loblaws , Metro etc. Walmart is same from US though. Look for margarine oil in butter and Canola oil being rebranded as cooking oil. Most of the corn grown in Canada is GMO. The beef steak Tomatoes are GMO as well. Unfortunately, the Big food corporations, Big Crop and pesticides companies and Big pharma and Big insurance have a lot in common because stock holding companies stay the same (Blackrock, Blackstone,  Vanguard, State Street). Unhealthy  and addictive food means more health problems and more pharma +insurance  profits.

Regardless of your immigration status, GC or H1b Or L1 or any other visa category, if you are considered a US Tax resident for a particualar year, your worldwide income is considered taxable for the US.

Ofcourse, there is the dual taxation treaty between the two countries that will avoid double taxation.
